Depends on the tier level.
I don’t raid Prot anymore, but in my mix of T9 and T8 hand me down Protadin gear, I’m about 39k unbuffed.
am i good with 36k hp unbuffed and 40k with my buff?? xD

Most of this is for TBC so it is outdated.
Def. cap is 540 now and we have many more spells and a built in rotation for tanking. Spell power is long gone (thankfully)
