Patch day was relatively smooth on Khadgar, EU. When I checked in at 5pm, there had been a guild 10 man raid in Ulduar but they had been bounced when the server crashed so were no fooling around with deathknights on another realm. After 30 minutes or so Khadgar was up, so I quickly bought a dual spec to fire but no glyphs of living bomb on the AH yet.
We managed to get 25 peeps for our usual evening raid and assembled in Ulduar, commencing a lengthy period of puzzling over which vehicle to use and abusing the members who had neglected to read anything about the bosses in Ulduar yet. We eventually assigned people to vehicles, mounted up and then … nothing at all. The server froze, leaving people running in place with nothing working apart from killing Wow in task manager. Another little break for the latecomers to do some studying. Just long enough to hop on my death knight and test a reported bug whereby every herb yields a frost lotus (false, sadly) and start one daily when the server was back again.
From now on the server was just fine. The Flame Leviathan gauntlet was slightly amusing but most importantly only needed to be done once. After wiping on the first boss attempt, there was a teleport available to go straight to the boss for subsequent attempts. Just one more try was all it took in any case.
Then on to Ignis where the first change from Naxx was some trash that was actually a bit troublesome (several wipes worth of trouble). Four trys on Ignis was enough for the night and we’ll see if we learned enough to down him tonight.
The few server problems were pretty much par for the course, hardly welcome, but no more than a minor annoyance. I’m delighted to be doing some new raid content that hasn’t been analysed to death for the last three years. We certainly won’t be breezing through Ulduar like the first two quarters of Naxx and the satisfaction of eventual success will be all the greater for the extra effort needed.
