Having leveled up a character to 80, I can tell you that buying armor before level 80 is a waste of money. I used to think differently, because I always wanted the best armor I could get for my level, but you know what? It really doesn’t make a different because it’s ALWAYS going to get replaced. When you hit 80 is the time to buy the armor to start out Heroics, Raids, etc.
You’ll always get some kind of armor or weapon from a quest reward or even drops, and always having the best stuff for your level doesn’t make a difference if your ultimate goal is hitting level 80.
I have 2 characters that I am leveling up at the same time right now through the R-a-F, so they are both getting 3 times the XP from questing. Seeing as how I only need to do about 4-5 quests in each zone I’m in, I’m not finding a lot of armor, however, if I went and bought the best armor it would be useless in a couple days, because they would be about 5-10 levels higher in those few days. I recently hit level 20, and I bought cheap-o armor, only because the stuff I was wearing was for lower teen toons (LOL), but I bought level 20 armor, just the cheap greens that I can find, because I know in a day or two I’ll be level 30. LOL.
But yeah, my advice, don’t waste money on AH armor until you are level 80, unless you are just gonna buy the really cheap armor. Because it’s always going to get replaced.
